About Paula
Hello! I’m Paula Carrasco, a Registered Nurse and Diabetes Educator with over 15 years of experience and a lifelong passion for prevention and wellness. I was born in Chile and moved to Colorado as a child. As a Latina woman, I’ve seen firsthand how deeply diabetes affects our families and communities. Many of us come from cultures where food is a source of love and connection — but our traditional diets and lifestyles can also increase our risk for diabetes. My mission is to help you find balance — to enjoy the foods and traditions you love while making sustainable changes that support your health. Seeing the long-term impact of chronic conditions led me to focus on helping people prevent complications before they start. That’s why I founded Carrasco Wellness and Diabetes Care — to guide individuals and families toward better health through lifestyle education, diabetes management, and private duty nursing services that provide skilled, one-on-one clinical support in the home for those who need a higher level of care.
I’ve called New Mexico home for the past 10 years, where I live with my husband, our three dogs (that's Milo in my picture, our oldest), two cats, and chickens and a few turkeys — a busy, happy little farm life that keeps me grounded. When I’m not working with clients, I’m connecting with my lifelong girlfriends on our podcast, Sunday Sundae Pod, where we share real stories about friendship and midlife (and plenty of laughter).
I am so glad you’re here. Whether you’re ready to take charge of your blood sugars, enhance your overall health, or need compassionate nursing support for yourself or a loved one — I’m here to guide you every step of the way.
